1. Overview
Voidrunner ("we", "our", or "the game") is a mobile arcade game developed as an independent project. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you play Voidrunner, how it is used, and how it is protected. By downloading and playing Voidrunner, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We are committed to keeping your data minimal, transparent, and secure. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Account Information
If you choose to sign in with a platform account, we collect:
Your display name from Google Play Games Services (Android) or Game Center (iOS)
This name is used to identify your scores on the leaderboard
We do not collect your email address, password, or any other account credentials
Sign-in is entirely optional. You may play as a guest at any time without providing any account information.
2b. Gameplay Data
We collect limited gameplay data to power the leaderboard and skin backup features:
Your display name
Your highest level reached and total rings cleared
The month in which scores were achieved
Your platform (Android or iOS) — displayed as a tag on the leaderboard
Which weekly skins you have unlocked (for cloud backup, signed-in players only)
This data is stored on our backend database (Neon PostgreSQL, accessed via a secure Cloudflare API proxy) and used solely to display the global leaderboard and restore your unlocked skins across devices.
2c. Advertising Data (AdMob)
Voidrunner uses Google AdMob to serve rewarded video advertisements. AdMob may collect and use the following data independently:
Device identifiers (advertising ID / IDFA)
IP address and approximate location
Device information (model, OS version)
Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, view duration)
This data is collected and processed by Google AdMob under Google's own privacy policy. We do not have direct access to this data. You can review Google's privacy practices at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
On iOS, AdMob will request permission to track you via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before accessing your advertising identifier. You may decline this request and the game will continue to function normally with non-personalized ads.
2d. Guest Players
If you play as a guest (without signing in), your scores are saved only on your local device and are not transmitted to our servers. A randomly generated guest identifier (e.g. "Guest_X7K2") is stored locally to maintain your session. This identifier contains no personal information.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To display your display name and scores on the global leaderboard
To restore your unlocked weekly skins when you sign in on a new device
To determine the monthly champion and award the Champion skin
To serve rewarded video advertisements through Google AdMob
We do not use your data for profiling, behavioral tracking, or any purpose beyond what is listed above.
4. Data Storage and Security
Leaderboard scores, platform tags, and skin unlock data are stored in a PostgreSQL database (Neon) accessed through a secure Cloudflare API proxy. All connections use industry-standard encrypted HTTPS/TLS. Database credentials are never stored in the app — all requests are authenticated through a secure server-side proxy. Local device data (guest ID, skin preferences, settings) is stored using the Capacitor Preferences API on your device and is not accessible to other apps.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no internet transmission or storage system is 100% secure. We encourage you not to share your gaming account credentials with anyone.
5. Data Retention
Leaderboard scores are kept on a monthly basis. Scores from previous months are archived after the monthly champion is determined.
Skin unlock records are retained as long as your account is active. If you uninstall the game and do not sign in again, local data will be deleted with the app.

Voidrunner integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

7. Children's Privacy
Voidrunner is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
For users in the European Economic Area, the relevant age threshold may be higher depending on local law.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Opt out of personalized advertising (via your device's ad settings or the ATT prompt on iOS)

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and, where required, notify you through the app or app store listing. Continued use of Voidrunner after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
